Batman movie written and shot like a horror movie. As we meet Bruce Wayne he’s his usual cheerful “Gotham’s most eligible bachelor” self, But he hears about a crime happening nearby and disappears into a nearby shadow. The film doesn’t even show him suiting up or leaving the room, he just steps into a shadow and is gone.

The batman himself is never fully in shot. It’s always just his eyes, his hand or his mouth. Characters don’t talk about the batman like a person, only as some supernatural creature, nobody’s EVER seen him in person. When he fights he doesn’t throw punches or throw batarangs, his grappling hook snags one crook and that crook is pulled into the shadows as their screams grow more faint. Each thug is picked off one by one.

the film focuses on the villain as the main character, who is some sort of mob boss like the penguin or a studious character like the riddler. Desperate to defeat this elusive specter that foils all their plans the villain slowly dedicates more and more of their life to finding the batman. They slowly drive themselves mad trying to defeat this impossible myth
